UAV Constructed by 3D Printing

The UAS Challenge is a competition in the aerospace sector for students from all over the world. During this challenge they design and build an Unmanned Aerial System. “The Challenge bridges the gap between academia and industry in developing applied UAS-related activities, providing the perfect opportunity to strengthen links with industry, other universities and enhance employment opportunities for graduates in the aerospace sector." During the process of building this UAS, the focus is on safety and technical competence. This competition ends with a ‘fly-off’ event, taking place in the UK.

The Aerobotic Tech Team Twente (students from University of Twente) entered into an agreement with Fiberneering, they developed a 3D printed method: FRP3D. Using that FRP3D, the students from A3T will construct an UAV for their participation in the UAS Challenge, the first 3D printer UAV of its kind!

The presentation of the winners of the student competition will be during the EASA High Level Conference on 28 November.
