Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW) continues to push the boundaries of urban  mobility, and one of the most promising initiatives emerging this year is the Mobility Hubs Working  Group. This breakthrough allows multiple U.S. companies to operate drones beyond the operator’s line of sight, setting a precedent for the future of unmanned aerial systems.

The session was moderated by Munish Khurana from EUROCONTROL, who set the stage by emphasizing the need for global collaboration in air mobility. "We want to listen to our panelists today about what is working well and where they are finding challenges," she said. The event highlighted progress in Japan, Europe, and the United States, presenting a multifaceted view of the current state of urban air mobility.

Designing the skies: Dutch architects pave the way for urban airspace revolution

A year ago, during the Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW), Dutch telecommunications company KPN announced KPN Drone Connect, a dedicated service for drones. This service encompasses capabilities such as connectivity control, data exchange, and 3D mobile coverage maps. Thanks to application priority on the mobile network, it ensures that data traffic to and from drones is prioritized during network congestion. At the upcoming ADW, KPN plans to demonstrate a new capability that provides drone operators with population density data on planned flight operations to minimize operational risks for drone flights.
