Eindhoven launches UAM Hub
At High Tech Campus Eindhoven, a new Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Hub was launched last month, emerging from the successful Flying Forward 2020 (FF2020) project. This state-of-the-art hub, which plays a crucial role in the advancement of urban drone testing, particularly Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS), also fosters an open innovation ecosystem for Urban Air Mobility.
The UAM Hub on the Campus serves as a gathering place for developers of urban mobility solutions and strategic partners engaged in Urban Air Mobility innovations for the future city. Moreover, it involves end users in the integration of Urban Air Mobility into various applications such as security, inspection, and delivery. This promising new cluster utilizes the test location at High Tech Campus Eindhoven to experiment with and enhance drone applications.
Ted van Hoof, Program Manager of the Urban Air Mobility Hub, expresses pride in the hub's achievements: "The recent European drone regulations have unlocked a multitude of possibilities for drone utilization in urban contexts, including delivery, security, and inspection. Through the UAM Hub, we assist organizations in capitalizing on these new opportunities and seamlessly integrating drones into their daily operations. We accomplish this through innovative collaborations with technology developers and stakeholders in urban airspace: a truly unique approach in the current drone landscape."
Paul van Son, Innovation Manager at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, highlights the successful track record of various innovation hubs on the Campus, such as the AI Innovation Center and the 5G hub Eindhoven, as drivers of Open Innovation. These hubs foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, joint projects, and provide essential infrastructure. Van Son expresses pride in welcoming the UAM Community to their Campus, as they firmly believe in the future of this emerging industry and can provide an ideal environment for its growth.
